A striking antique Victorian natural Red Spinel & lighting ridge Opal set Gold Dragonfly brooch set into solid 15ct yellow gold. This truly amazing antique victorian treasure, takes the form of a beautiful dragonfly this little bit of jewellery art work has been so well crafted and made. Considering this treasure we made around 1870/1880 it is in amazing antique condition. I think what is quite striking for me has to the the hand carving detailing to the wings. You can even see the smallest detailing on each of the wings and this type of work must have been painstaking for the artisan who made this treasure. Even the the body of the dragonfly is so well detailed. Then set at the heart of the body you have an amazing natural lighting ridge opal gem. The opal has so much life and display of colour to it and really does draw your eyes in to the head of the brooch where you have two round old cabochon natural Red spinels?? Genuine earth mined natural lighting ridge opal – round cabochon cut – measuring approx – 4.5mm by 4mm. Genuine earth mined natural red spinel – round cabochon cut – you have two in the head of the setting. Solid 15ct yellow gold setting – hallmarked 15ct to the back of the brooch – with a rubbed signature of the artist. Dimensions – 40mm by 27mm.
