Late Victorian brooch with a floral design of 9ct yellow and rose gold
Late Victorian brooch with a delightful floral design of 9ct red and yellow gold surrounded by numerous seed pearls. Nice clear makers mark and hallmarks. One tiny seed pearl is missing but we do not feel it detracts too much from this beautiful, wearable, piece of handmade jewellery from an especially stylish period of history. This is an original, genuine antique piece of jewellery supplied in a jewellery box that may not be original to the piece. Condition: Good used condition overall, some light surface wear commensurate with age. Approx measurements: length 42mm. Weight: 4.38 grams. Gold used in jewellery is an alloy of pure gold and various other metals to create different colours and degrees of strength. Rose gold is a mixture of yellow gold, copper and silver and when it comes to purity it is no different to yellow or white gold. It was popularised in the 19. Century by the famous jeweller Carl Fabergé and highly prized by Russian nobility.
