A huge 19th century hand carved shell cameo a fabulous cabinet piece carved to depict a double portrait of a distinguished Victorian couple, he has fine features and wears a moustache. The colour from the shell surface is used to good effect to add colour to hair and clothing. The shell completely without damage is set into a fine decorative 9ct gold frame decorated with scrolling around the edge. The pin and “C” clasp are in very good working condition. Four tiny touches of solder to strengthen the border decoration which is perfectly secure. The gold is unmarked tested as 9ct. Cameo is 2 3/4inches x 2 1/4inches.
